Q. You have a history of working in the entertainment industry. Can you walk us through some of the roles you’ve held throughout your career?
I’ve been fortunate to hold a variety of roles throughout my career. From PR Assistant—which I firmly believe is one of the best positions for learning because of the many hats you wear—to Senior Premium Experiences & Special Activities Manager, and now Communications Manager, each role has taught me something new. Over the course of my 10+ years working in the Southern California market, I’ve gained valuable experience that has shaped the communicator and leader I am today.
Q. PR is always evolving. What’s one shift in the industry that has surprised you most?
While tried-and-true tactics like press releases remain important, the growing influence of content creators and influencers has become an increasingly valuable part of the communications landscape. Learning how to thoughtfully integrate influencer partnerships into media planning has been a rewarding shift and has played a significant role in my success in recent years.
Q. What does serving on the OCPRSA Board mean to you?
It’s been an honor to represent our community and have a voice in shaping events that provide growth and learning opportunities for our members. As a born-and-raised Orange County girl, it’s been my mission to ensure every corner of our diverse and dynamic county feels represented. And I’m just getting started!
Q. In what ways has OCPRSA shaped your growth within the profession?
OCPRSA has challenged me to think beyond my day-to-day role and take a broader view of our profession. Through networking, professional development programs, and conversations with communicators from a wide range of industries, I’ve gained new perspectives that have strengthened both my strategic thinking and confidence as a communications professional. It’s also reminded me that some of the best learning happens when we learn from one another.
Q. How has your involvement with OCPRSA contributed to your leadership development and professional advocacy?
Serving on the Board has given me opportunities to lead in ways I may not have otherwise experienced in my day-to-day work. Whether it’s planning programs, collaborating with fellow board members, or helping create meaningful experiences for our community, I’ve developed stronger leadership skills while learning the importance of advocacy for our profession. It has reinforced the value of giving back and helping create opportunities for others to grow and succeed.
Q. What advice would you offer to those entering the field?
Say “yes” to opportunities that come your way—even the ones that don’t seem like part of your plan for reaching your dream role. Looking back on my career, I can confidently say I’ve learned something valuable from every position I’ve held. Some lessons came from places I never expected. Sometimes you have to get off the freeway and take the side streets to reach your final destination.
Q. Tell us about your new role at Suzuki Motor Company.
My career started as an intern with the Grand Prix of Long Beach, so I’m excited to return to a fast-paced industry after more than a decade in entertainment and Southern California tourism. While I’ve stayed connected to the motorsports community through volunteer roles over the years, having the opportunity to help shape and elevate storytelling within the powersports industry is truly a dream come true.
