This week we meet Jorgie Sandoval, public affairs manager at Communications LAB. An enthusiastic mentor to the next generation of PR professionals, this CSULB alum is also an accomplished broadcast producer. Read on to learn more about Jorgie!

Q: Please tell us about you! Your job, etc.

My name is Jorgie Sandoval - it's pronounced with a smile. I am a Public Affairs Manager at Communications LAB, where I apply my expertise in project management, program development, and team leadership to help our clients discover their voices and amplify their messages. Before joining Communications LAB, I worked as a Project Coordinator for Boss Wraps in Orange County and volunteered at 22 West Media at California State University, Long Beach, where I mentored and trained students to create content across different forms of media. I also produced and hosted "Brains Are Sexy," a radio show and podcast dedicated to normalizing mental health conversations for college students. My show was nationally recognized for two consecutive years as "Best Talk Show" by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems Awards. When I am not in the office, you can find me enjoying a board game with friends at your local hobby shop!

Q: What brought you to the OCPRSA?

I grew up in Orange County and moved to Long Beach to finish my undergrad studies at CSULB. After graduating with my bachelor's in psychology, I wanted to return to my hometown and send the elevator back down to help future generations succeed. When I learned about the Young Professionals (YoPro) Program, I was immediately drawn to the organization and wanted to know more about what I could do to empower young professionals.

Q: What’s your favorite piece of advice for PR professionals?

Organize, organize, organize...then be prepared to improvise. I often share with my interns the value of having a plan to stay organized and the flexibility to pivot when external circumstances inevitably change things. It never hurts to have Plan B, C, and even a Plan D!
