Member Spotlight: Q&A with Alexis Flores

This week we meet Alexis Flores, a recent CSUF alum and former OCPRSSA member whose great experience there led him to become an OCPRSA member upon graduation. From there, he was quick to join a committee (thank you, Alexis!) and is currently serving as 2023 PROTOS Co-Chair. Be sure to keep an eye out for this energetic social media expert at OCPRSA events!
Q: Alexis, please tell us about you! Your job, etc.?
A: I work at Casanova McCann, which is a Hispanic advertising agency, as a social media manager. Prior to this, I worked at Experian doing social media campaigns. I graduated from Cal State Fullerton (CSUF) in May 2020.
Q: What brought you to the OCPRSA?
A: I was part of the student chapter, PRSSA, at CSUF and started to volunteer at OCPRSA events when possible. Once I graduated, I joined a committee and worked with Sammi Rocco (when she served as YoPro Chair) and had some helpful mentors to guide me and hear their connections to OCPRSA! I continued to stay on a committee and worked on PROTOS 2022 as a committee member. From there I was encouraged to join the board, which has led me to the role of 2023 PROTOS Co-Chair.
Q: What’s your favorite piece of advice for PR professionals?
A: I have learned so much from my mentors! I even have a book with all the advice I have gotten and the piece of advice that has stuck with me is, "It is nice to be paid, but it pays off to be nice."
