OCPRSA Takes Home Second Place at ICON’s Diversity and Inclusion Celebration Reception

The PRSA Diversity & Inclusion Committee recognized three PRSA Chapters with Chapter Diversity Awards in recognition of their efforts to embody and demonstrate key values in diversity and inclusion. PRSA Tampa Bay earned first place, OCPRSA took second and PRSA Dallas was named runner-up.
OCPRSA’s DEI Committee is led by DEI Chair Nathan Lammers, who recently organized OCPRSA’s Eye on DEI Summit which hosted a nearly sold-out audience at the Terrace by Mix Mix. OCPRSA and PRSA Western District Co-Hosted Meet and Greet with Students and Professionals
Students are the future of public relations and communications professionals. To shepherd the next generation, OCPRSA President Patty Conover and President-Elect and Treasurer Elena Bosch APR co-hosted a mixer with PRSA Western District leadership and regional PRSSA chapters. Nearly two-dozen students representing Biola University; California State University, Fullerton; and Arizona State University were also greeted by incoming PRSA Western District Chair Diane Smith, PRSA National Rep Carolyn Smith Casertano, APR and Past PRSA National Chair Jane Dvorak, APR, Fellow PRSA.

PRSA College of Fellows Inducts 17 New Fellows Including OCPRSA Member and Dean of California State University Fullerton College of Communications Dr. Bey-Ling- Sha
The PRSA College of Fellows celebrated Fellows Week alongside ICON, with commemorations including its Induction Welcome and Kickoff Celebration on Sunday, Nov. 6 to welcome the Class of 2022 into the College of Fellows. The College welcomed 17 New Fellows including OCPRSA Member and Dean of California State University Fullerton College of Communications Dr. Bey-Ling- Sha (pictured third from left).
The PRSA College of Fellows is the gold standard for public relations professionals. Induction into the College of Fellows is an emergence into new ways of serving our profession and our colleagues. Nearly 700 members have been inducted since its inception in 1989.

PRSSA California State University, Fullerton Honored as Outstanding Chapter
For the second time in three years, PRSSA California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) was recognized as Outstanding Chapter of the year. Led by OCPRA Member and PRSSA CSUF Faculty Advisor Ken Hagihara, the award honors achievements of ethical leadership.

OCPRSA Past-President Matt Prince Packed the House for His Session, “Future of Brand Engagement: How Gen Z is Changing PR and Social Media for Good.”
OCPRSA Past-President and Director of Marketing Communications Matt Prince led a session for PRSSA members where audience members got an inside look at the trends, myths and opportunities driving the future generations’ engagement with brands.
Matt was recently honored for his work creating NetNetSynergy.com, a free resource site for students and young professionals. In addition, Prince is an adjunct professor at Chapman University on Influencer Marketing.
