Member Spotlight: Q&A with Kaetlyn Boone

Posted on Mar. 29, 2022  /  Member Spotlight  /   0

K. BooneThis week we meet Katelyn Boone, who recently joined the OCPRSA…welcome, Kaetlyn! For those of you who want to connect, this Pepperdine Graziadio and CSU San Marcos alum can be reached at [email protected] to talk everything from globe-trotting travel to tennis…and, of course, communications.

Q: Please tell us about you! Your job, etc.?

A: I am currently the Sr. Manager, Public Relations and Communications for Revance, a biotechnology company focused on innovative aesthetic and therapeutic offerings. I lead the development of internal and external communications strategies and public relations programs for the organization and am responsible for communications-supporting campaigns, medical congresses, media relations and corporate events to elevate our aesthetics portfolio. My career in PR spans across the medical device, pharmaceutical, automotive and cosmetic industries for FORTUNE 500 companies, as well as in the private sector.

Born and raised in California, I currently reside in Costa Mesa and enjoy all that Orange County has to offer! When not working, I love to travel the world and learn about new cultures, food, beliefs and experiences. As part of my wellness routine, I recently picked up tennis and am an avid Pilates student. I have always been a writer and am naturally a bibliophile (I try to read/listen to one book per month – always open to recommendations!).  I am also a decade-long mentor and non-profit volunteer for Ambassadors for Children.

Q: What brought you to the OCPRSA?

A: I was encouraged to join by my fellow colleague and chapter Secretary, James Alley. After hearing about his involvement on the board and positive and enriching experience, I became enthusiastic about becoming a member. I am looking forward to the great networking, professional development opportunities, forming connections with like-minded individuals and staying on top of emerging trends.

Q: What’s your favorite piece of advice for PR professionals?

A: As PR professionals, we have to embrace change as a constant with open arms. To thrive in today’s environment, it’s essential to continue to self-improve, become more socially aware and focus on learning as the PR function continues to be redefined. The responsibilities of modern communicators become increasingly vast every day; thus, understanding the importance of trade-offs and being able to pivot to support the priorities of the business is key.

"We cannot change what we are not aware of, and once we are aware, we cannot help but change." – Sheryl Sandberg
